Commit Yourself To Achieving Your Goals

Updated: March 27, 2022

There is no real connection between what we want and what we get in life. Look around and notice at how each person wants many and different things.

And if I start a poll here in my blog and ask who wants to be wealthy, then I’m sure I’d get a pretty unanimous response. And we all know that unfortunately, not everyone will become millionaires.

That’s why I say that there is no real connection between what we want and what we get in life.

commit

However, there is a connection between what we get and what we are committed to experiencing. Because commitment is that do-whatever-it-takes mindset that keeps your eyes on the prize.

With commitment, there is a sense of no turning back.

And in dedicating yourself to your goals, new possibilities and opportunities often emerge – most of which don’t reveal themselves to someone with less focus.

Consider how a lot of people approach a new endeavor. They’re willing to do it as long as it’s convenient.

The trouble with having that leaning towards convenience, as opposed to commitment, becomes more apparent when problems arise.

With the inevitable challenges and obstacles that come with pursuing a goal, the path of least resistance is to follow one’s feelings and do what appears to be most convenient.

And this usually means quitting. This explains why most do not get what they want but instead get what they are committed to – their comfort.

To break out of this self-sabotaging pattern, simply return to and remain present at your commitment, as life forces you to choose between commitment and convenience.

Success requires clarity to what’s at stake and what it is that you are committed to doing. Then, whether you feel like it or not, do it anyway.

As you develop the habit of honoring commitments, life will take on new direction. Deliberate, focused action toward goals, will replace sitting around hoping that your wishes can come true.

Successful people are often those who honor their commitments, and decide to live deliberately in pursuit of them.

Thanks for the pointers! Commitment is key to achieving goals and without it, you will end up going back to square one more often than you would like!

  3. You’re right, if you don’t commit yourself in achieving your goals, then you’ll end up with nothing.. We should have a passion for our goals. We should focus in achieving our goals and believe in ourselves.. Thanks for posting this article.. 🙂 By the way, check out an inspirational video called “My Wish” by Donna Sirianni on YouTube. 4. thank you so much for this article. it clarifys success. from my own point of view, i believe if one wants to succed he should never involve his personal feelings. and if we gave in to every feeling we’ll end up emotioanlly unstable. we cannnot let our feelings guide us nor dig our path. our life should be according to rational and logical choices. what is truly best for one. not what will truly make me feel good. for insatnce, i feel good sitting watching movies and eating, but i can and will never follow this desire. instead i’ll think what is truly best for me!! check this amazing inspirational blog ”dalia-journeytodreams.blogspot.com”

  5. Good post. I think what holds people back from commitment to working on their goals is that we all want it “right now.” But as you point out, it takes deliberate, focused action if you want to achieve your goals. Taking small steps towards your goal every day actually changes the way you think.
