Hi everyone. Today, I’d like to introduce you to my latest project called 199Jobs
199Jobs is a marketplace where you can buy and sell services starting at 199 Philippine Pesos.
It’s an online store, but instead of buying or selling tangible products – people can either sell their services, or hire someone to do a task for them.
Me and my co-founder, Glenn Santos of memokitchen.com, have been busy for the past couple of months developing the site, and we’re proud to say that we’ve made very good progress in building a community that’s helping people make money and save time.
This tech startup was inspired by our belief that each individual can use their creativity to earn money online, whether to make a bit of extra on the side or turn it into something that supports their entire family.
Moreover, we also believe that there should be an easy and affordable way to outsource simple tasks, to get help from reliable and responsive individuals and skip the stress of hiring and managing people.
199Jobs.com hopes to connect buyers and sellers and make it easy for them to work together. Our goals are to help people make money; and assist businesses and individuals to get things done.
Making Money With 199Jobs
Think of something you can do that others might find valuable. It can be as simple as writing articles, or something a bit technical like graphic design.
Think of a skill which you can offer as a service. If you speak well, then you can offer voice overs services. Or if you’re good at Photoshop, then maybe you can sell your photo editing services.
Sometimes, what you know can also be valuable to others. If you’re a techy, then maybe you can help people decide what smartphone to buy. If you’re good at social media marketing, then maybe you can offer consultancy services for entrepreneurs.
Here’s a screenshot of the job that my friend, Ada, is offering. She’s one of the best travel bloggers in the country and she’s offering to make a vacation itinerary for those who want to go to Bolinao, Nagsasa, El Nido and many other places.
Increase Your Productivity With 199Jobs
Focus is one of the keys to success. As an entrepreneur, you need to focus on building your business and not waste time on things that you could just outsource.
For example, you want to have your own website, but you don’t know how. Instead of learning web design and development, you can just hire someone to do it for you.
But how much does it cost to hire a web designer nowadays? This could range between P10,000 to P15,000 for just a simple business website.
Now here’s the thing, with 199Jobs, you can have your own website up and running with just P3,000 or less!
How? You start by hiring one of the many freelance web developers on the site who are offering web setup services, like this one below:
Then, hire someone to create your website banner, another one to write your content (About page, Product page, etc.), and maybe someone to edit the site photos.
In less than a week, you’ll have a business website up and running!
Trust and Security
In 199Jobs, we require buyers to pay first before a seller starts work.
During this time, we hold the payment in escrow while the buyer waits for the seller to deliver the service. After the buyer accepts the work, then that’s the only time that payment gets released to the seller.
For buyers, this means you are assured to get the work you need done, or we refund back the payment to you, or help you find another seller which can do the job. For sellers, this means you are assured that you will get paid every time.
It’s a win-win situation.
I am very proud to be part of this venture, and I hope you can help it grow by signing up as a user and selling some of your own services there. Or maybe perhaps, trying it out and buying one of the jobs being offered there.
This is my first tech startup project, and I’m learning a lot of entrepreneurial lessons from the very inspired local startup community.
I’ll definitely write about and share my discoveries and realizations here – so please subscribe to Ready To Be Rich if you want to learn more about Philippine startups.
Congratulations! Really found some good writers in 199jobs.com for my other niche blogs. More Power!
Wow! This is a very nice concept indeed!
Congrats to this one, Fitz….and of course I thank you!
This one has really helped me not only financially, but also had a chance to meet new customers for my writing job.
Through your site, I have served a couple of customers who needed articles, particularly press releases and advertising materials for their products and websites.
And I am glad they keep coming back 🙂
Nice sir fitz for jumping on this niche however, i’m sad to see that this is a replica or much a clone of fiverr.com I know this because i’m one of the early freelancers on that site.
I know you have invested more than a thousand dollars for this but it would have been better if you have your own concept even the design.
I’m just concern that someday this will be the trend for filipino’s who want to venture online.
Hi John. Why are you sad that it is a replica of Fiverr?
Me and my co-founders believe that it is a sound business model and we see potential in introducing it to the Philippines – much like how CashCashPinoy, Galleon and even Sulit, brought and ventured into group buying, internet shopping and online classified ads, respectively.
All are not original business concepts, they’re not even the pioneers in the country, but they’ve all found success in offering the business model to Filipinos.
Moreover, we are operating as a lean startup (so no, I did not invest more than a thousand dollars in the business) and coming out with a minimum viable product was the primary goal.
Pivoting the site to a business model more suited to the local market, as well as redesigning the site so it won’t look like a Fiverr clone is definitely part of our near-future plan.
Thanks for your thoughts and your concern, and I do hope you sign up with us, we definitely need more freelancers there because both local and foreign buyers are now starting to increase on the site and we’d like to offer more jobs to them.
Wow kuya Fitz, this sounds amazing! I’m so proud of your venture. 🙂
And yes, there’s no problem with your business model. Right now, being original doesn’t matter – being able to meet a high demand does!
[…] officially introduced it here back in April and the site has undergone a lot of developments and improvements since […]
