Lisa Bu: How Books Can Open Your Mind

Updated: July 12, 2013

When was the last time you read a book?

I’d congratulate you if you’re reading one now or just recently finished one.

For most of my friends, and many others I know, reading books has become a thing of the past – replaced by television, online videos and social networking.

Call me “old school”, but I still prefer reading books before I sleep, instead of watching television, checking social media accounts or reading RSS feeds, which many do today as they lay in bed.

This weekend, if you haven’t read a book for the longest time, I encourage you to go out and find one.

You can buy a new book or get something second-hand. You can borrow from a friend, or simply look around your house because I’m sure, there’s an old book there you haven’t read yet.

Today, I’d like to share this beautiful 6-minute TED Talk by Lisa Bu, where she shares how books have helped her open her mind; and how a shattered dream had led her to discover her personal source of happiness.

I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I did.
