How To Overcome Obstacles and Achieve Your Goals

Updated: June 29, 2022

We all have goals.

Goals, which motivate us to do the things we do every day.

Some people want a big house, some want to go on their dream vacation.

Some people want a job promotion, so they can achieve their goal of owning a car.

We all have goals.

goals-1

However, reaching our goals is not as easy as it looks.

Because as we get closer to our goals, obstacles will appear.

Obstacles that will hinder our path.

We get into credit card debt, we experience financial emergencies.

And our bad money habits prevent us from moving forward.

Soon, all we see are our financial problems.

And everything will seem hopeless.

Our goals looking so near, and yet so far.

goals-2

When this happens, you have to remember that there are two types of goals.

The material things we want, and the short-term objectives we have, are called our logical goals.

Then there are emotional goals, which you must build on top of your logical goals.

These are long-term objectives that give you purpose and self-fulfillment.

Attaining financial freedom, having the time to do the things you love, and bringing happiness to your family, are examples of emotional goals.

goals-3

To see them, you have to take a step back and away from your short-term view.

You need to look up and beyond the obstacles that hinder you from moving forward.

And let your emotional goals inspire and motivate you.

goals-4

More importantly, realize that the obstacle in front of you is just a wall.

And you can create stepping stones to overcome it.

Getting into the habit of saving, having proper financial protection, being disciplined, working hard, learning how to invest.

These are just a few of the things you can do to conquer that wall.

goals-5

Slowly but surely, one step at a time.

You will be able to reach the top of that wall.

And have everything that you’ve always wanted, all within your reach.

This my friend, is how you overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.

  1. Very true Sir. Thank you for this. I followed your blog for the past two months and i am now more aware and mindful about life’s sense of purpose. With the clear horizon up front, we can build and step on the blocks patiently, slowly and gradually. God Bless you always Sir and your family. You inspire a lot of us pinoys! 🙂 PS i live in mindanao (bukidnon). i just wish to attend one of your seminars (money, distance and time does not permit as of this time). Anyways you are the reason i am now investing in EIP at COL.

  2. Taking a step back is a critical step. Sometimes we are too intent on overcoming the obstacle thus we keep pushing and barging at the wall but it won’t come down. And we get frustrated. Taking a step back enables us to see that there’s an opening somewhere or there’s a ladder we can use to go over the wall. Metaphors aside, taking a step back enables us to regroup emotionally and physically. Re-strategize. Although, this step can be the painful step because we have to admit that our previous efforts weren’t effective. But once we overcome that, we can then see that there are other options to address our problem or that it might not even be a problem at all just by taking a different perspective on it. Or, as aptly illustrated, we can work on the building blocks that are within our control. Oftentimes, the solutions to our obstacles are within our sphere of control, e.g., facing fears, rethinking assumptions, working hard, seeking help, believing in yourself.

  3. Thank you sir Fitz for this post. I am once again reminded of what my goals are and why I am reaching for them. Obstacles are everywhere and sometimes, we lose track of our goals.

    PS. Nice graphics. 🙂

  4. the solution is so easy and yes it needs a lot of self-discipline 🙂 two thumbs up!!!

  5. Yay!!!!!! This blog put my mind into perspective. Practical life goals with a great matter of faith could bring wonders.

I’m glad that somehow, I already have the first four. the Investment one is what I’, working on. The savings and emergency funds are the ones I’m further strengthening to help my investment goals materialize. Dream vacation, education and others will come to pass in God’s perfect time. ^_^

  6. There are times where it feels as though the obstacles pile up faster than the solutions. For example, many nation’s recent battle in 2020 with the COVID-19 virus and the economic problems it caused on top of the many day to struggles so many folks already cope with. My best advice to beautiful bride and our troops, “we have to toughen up even more and determine in advance that we WILL BE OVER-COMERS !!!!”
