Updated: August 5, 2010
My life has so far been a series of ups and downs with twists and turns.
It’s been a journey of multiple successes and big failures, of dead-end roads and open fields.
Through all these years, what has always kept me going is the proper mindset, discipline, belief and determination that in the end, I shall reach my goal.
And that’s what today’s Reader Mail is all about – giving focus on discoveries and learnings that push us towards new directions in our life. It’s about making that conscious decision to change and committing to it.
Let’s now read these two inspirational stories that a couple of readers have sent me from the past few weeks for they are truly worth sharing to all of you.
From Ms. R
I work in a commercial bank and everyday, I get to meet people from different backgrounds who would open an account with us.
While most are middle income individuals who just wants a savings or checking account, I would occasionally meet someone who would be interested in opening an investment account or would inquire on our wealth management services.
I never really took notice but after I read your article on The Real Gap Between the Rich and the Poor, I discovered that indeed, there is a huge difference between the attitudes and mindset of the poor and middle-class from the rich and wealthy.
That got me thinking and more importantly, made me decide to examine my own beliefs about money and wealth.
I’m writing you to just say thank you for that very insightful article which made me really change how I see and plan for my future.
I used to be comfortable with how I live but now, I know and believe I can do and achieve more.
I’ve made concrete plans for myself and hope that someday, I will be the one on the other side of the table – opening an investment account and asking a banker how to manage MY wealth.
Keep up the good work and God bless.
From Ms. B
First of all, thank you. Why? Because you just made me the luckiest person I know.
I used to be corporate slave with no savings and unmanageable credit card debt. I used to think that the only way to be rich is to marry someone rich or win the lotto.
But one day, feeling low and too lazy to work, I went online and randomly searched for “how to be lucky in life” and I was sent to your very positive article: How To Be Lucky in Life and Achieve Success
And that one article gave me a breath of real fresh air because I never really thought that one can make their own good luck.
Slowly, I changed how I see life and tried to always lean towards what’s good and positive. I opened up my world, just like what you suggested and it has made me discover a lot of opportunities just right in front of me.
Now, I’m still a corporate slave, but I also have a sideline business that’s really doing well. I now know how to “pay myself first” and has been able to significantly lower my debts.
By the end of the year, I will be debt free and will start saving up to finally setting up my very own business. It’s been exciting and I should say that I’ve never been this lucky in all my life. I really thank you for inspiring me.
I hope these stories were able to inspire you to make your own change in your life and start your way towards a new direction of optimism, abundance and wealth.

That’s it and thanks for reading another article here in Ready To Be Rich.
My MINDSET. I want to have a mindset exactly on what Rich men have. Because I believe that Mindset is the architectural plan of our Future. What we will become Tomorrow, depends on our Mindset Today. Thanks for the Inspiring Blogs Fitz!
“What would you like to change in your life right now and why?”
I’ve been an adict reader of ready to be rich. And one thing that I often waited for is the announcement of seminars. I want to grab this opportunity and I am thankful if I can attend this one for free. My answer to the above title question is:
I resigned from my work because of the fact mentioned in the above title. I want to change my life right now. And why? Simply because I’ve been working for twelve (12) years and true enough the “Rat Race” pattern happened in my life. The feeling of get up, go to work and pay bills has been slaving me for years. Instead of being a slaved forever, I want to increase my financial IQ and be freed from being an earned incomer into a passive incomer. I want to do the rich people do, i.e. earn, spend and pay taxes rather than earn, pay taxes before spend.
“What would you like to change in your life right now and why?”
First of all, I would like to thank you Fitz, for all the wonderful opportunities and insights you share with your readers. And as though your articles and guides were not already a wealth of information in itself, you even go out of your way to create more chances and opportunities for people who are struggling to make big changes in their lives.
Doing the same thing over and over while expecting a new result is not only tedious, it’s downright stupid. I WILL change the way I THINK, and I believe that through proper financial education and the right mindset, I can finally achieve. I started off recently by investing my time by reading more about financial education, and learning to control my own finances. So far it’s been a slow and painstaking process, but I know that immersing myself in the experience and culture of individuals who are already successful in this field, will definitely push my aptitude to a higher level faster and sooner, and help me to be on the way to a life of more optimism, abundance and wealth!
It will be hard work and there is yet a lot to learn and experience, but when the time will come when I will be in a position to help and pay it forward, I will definitely do so with the same gratitude. Thank you!
I would like to get my own place. It’s time for me to have a place I can call my own. I’m blessed to live with my parents. But it’s time to carve out my own future and become a real man.
hi
need help, all my plans fail esepecially this year ( i hate this year!) i tried everything reading books, proper planning and still ends nothing. I even got so close contract signing where evrything set from carpenters to bookkeepers and yet to my suprise he backed out don’t know…
fustrated want to be entrepeneur
Thanks Fitz for all your blogs. They truly changed my perspective about money.
I worked abroad for only almost a year. I went home because of career reasons and others. I came home with only a few dollars. And I’ve spent all of them with my family and friends until I finally realized that nothing’s left for me. I was so down and frustrated. It took me 3 months to finally find a job here and start again my life. During those 3 months, I was lucky enough to find your website through Google. And I found your blogs very inspiring. From then on, I promised to myself that I will start saving and investing my money. Lucky enough that now, I already have savings, investments and have my own small business.
What will I change in my life right now? I think nothing for now. I’ll just continue investing and search for more tips on how to make my business grow.
I’m truly grateful that I’m learning a lot from your blogs. Keep up the good work. And continue changing and inspiring many Filipinos. More power and God bless!
Changing life’s directions lies initially in our minds (thoughts and plans), and then in our hearts (desire and zeal). However, the ultimate driver within us are still our hands. This means we need to act (not just mere talk). Remember that it is our hand that handle the steering wheel.
The reason why we will remain struggling to work for money or slary-based jobs, because that’s we we were trained by our parents and the schools in the Philippines. Our motivation from childhood was to study, finish college, and have a good job. In short, we were trained to become servants and not masters or owners of business. When I worked in the Philippines for 10 years in the government, I was trying so hard and could not even feed my family. But when I went into business in 1990, in less than three years, I did not even realize that my businesses and properties were valuing millions of peso already. Please read more my own story at http://magnegosyotayo.com . Thanks.
“What would you like to change in your life right now and why?”
I would like to improve my organizational skills. I have several ideas on business and social endeavors, yet I don’t get to implement, share or develop many of them. “I just don’t have the time,” is my defensive explanation. Yet, within myself, I know that I’ll be able to “get” the time that I need for implementing these ideas if I just learn how to prioritize and how to say “no” to other things.
I understand that I also need to determine which items on my list need to be dropped, which tasks may be delegated to other people, and which I need to personally address. Doing this will make me more productive because I focus on things that are really important. It will also make the people around me productive too, since they use their skills in working with me to improve my project ideas.
