It was January 2009.
Three minutes after taking off from LaGuardia Airport in New York City, US Airways Flight 1549 experienced a bird strike which took out the thrust from both engines of the plane.
The pilot, after realizing that his fast descending plane won’t be able to make it back to the airport, decided to do a crash landing into the Hudson River.
And with his masterful skills, the plane glided safely into the water and everybody survived the crash to live and tell their stories for another day.
One of them, Ric Elias, a survivor of that fateful flight. And below, he shares with us three things he learned as he watched his plane crash that day.
A talk from TED2011, I hope you enjoy this short but meaningful video.
I like it when he said that he has eliminated the negative energy in his life now and has consciously chosen to be happy. I think that’s the best way to live.
It also struck me when he said that we should stop wasting our time with things that don’t matter to the people that matter to us.
And that we should stop postponing the things we wanted and needed to do just because we think we’ll be here forever.
Indeed, life is too precious to waste on not doing the things that make it worth living.
